August 2026 — before our first article

While reporting at an axe throwing marathon on August 1, 2026, our editor told one interviewee that the resulting article was “for the magazine.” Axeology is not a magazine and no magazine existed. The correct description — an article on this website — is what every interviewee should have been told, and one was not.

We told him directly, before publishing this. That took longer than it should have, because the contact details we took that day were incomplete — which is its own lesson and the reason we now read every number back to the person who gave it to us. We are recording the correction here because a correction owed before publication is still a correction.
